John loves the process of creation. He's always valued creativity, originality, innovation, and growth. That's why he founded Expedition Group; to help with the process of creating impact through thoughtful and valuable advisory service. With a background that spans corporate and structured finance, private equity, real estate development and management, and banking and banking regulation, John brings both ideas and execution to the table to help partners look past the obvious to make powerful, strategic decisions. After graduating with undergraduate and graduate degrees from Tennessee Technological University, John worked for over a decade in various private equity, real estate finance, acquisition, development, and banking-focused roles. Over the span of his career he has managed, acquired, sold, and developed more than $2 billion of real estate and debt assets; has underwritten acquisitions, originations, and sales of over $1 billion of credit; and has invested or advised in the acquisitions and dispositions of dozens of privately-held operating companies.

Outside of work he is highly engaged with his family and dedicates significant time to nonprofit work, most notably serving on the boards of Phoenix Club of Nashville and BeWell in School.
